About me and my therapy practice
Hello, my name is Jess Bryson and I am a Person-Centred Counsellor and Psychotherapist working face-to-face in Edinburgh as well as on the phone and online via video calls.
I am a warm, supportive and empathetic person and I will not shy away from gently challenging your thoughts and beliefs about yourself in order to help you to move forward and grow as a person.
People feel able to open up and share with me their inner most thoughts.
I am a trauma-responsive and neuro-affirming therapist, who offers person-centred counselling in a confidential and supportive space where you can feel heard and seen.
I am experienced at working with the following issues:
• Anxiety and depression
• Self esteem
• Loss, grief and bereavement
• Loneliness and isolation
• Exploring LGBTQ+ identity
• Relationship difficulties
• Life transitions
• Stress and burn out
• Domestic abuse
• Navigating neurodiversity
• Childhood trauma
My Qualifications:
• Person-centred Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy with Persona (BACP Accredited)
• COSCA Certificate in Counselling Skills
I have completed CPD courses on topics such as Suicide and Self Harm, Neurodiversity, Chronic Pain, Shame, Childhood Sexual Abuse and Power Dynamics in the therapy space.
I have a background in academia, NGOs and charities as a Researcher and Project Manager in Stakeholder Engagement and I am also a trained Facilitator.
I work with individual clients to help them to make changes in their lives. I see therapy as a form of "facilitated story-telling".
My role as a therapist is to help you to make sense of your life, where you have come from, where you are now and where you would like to go in the future.
I am actively involved in CPD and see myself as a life-long learner.
I am an Accredited Registrant Member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (NCPS) and I abide by their Code of Ethics.
